Monopoly has once again evolved from the traditional buying and renting of properties to buying brands in Monopoly Empire. Yes, now you own the world’s top brands such as Universal Studios, Wilson, Caterpillar, Yahoo, Levi’s, Puma, Billboard, Food Network, Virgin, Nerf, Ford, ebay and more.
The latest game launched by Hasbro is more exciting to play with new features, new rules and also can finish very much faster than the traditional predecessor sets.
The Empire cards compliment the Chance card and offers you opportunities to keep it when you receive it and use it as and when you want throughout the game. Empire cards can get all players to return to the banker purchased brands with the colour chosen by the player using the card; stop an action from another player or to charge another player S$400,000 amongst many other useful cards.
The dice even has a swap face that allows you to swap your billboard with any player as you strategise to reduce winning opportunity of your opponents whilst you climb to win.
When you pass GO, the bank pays you based on the level of billboards on your tower. The higher your tower is filled the more you get. That’s the same for anyone who lands on your property. They pay you based on the level of your tower and its corresponding amount.
The objective of the game is to buy billboards and fill up your tower first before any other player to win the game. And the pace of the game is very fast. You can play many rounds in the same period of time you would have required to finish one game with a traditional Monopoly set.
We suspect the adults would appreciate this game much more than the younger folks. Monopoly Empire is retailing at S$69.90 at Toys “R” Us and major department stores in Singapore. The recommended age to play this game is eight and up.
