The Xiaomi Redmi 2 smartphone looks similar to its predecessor the Redmi S1 but is packed with more features. We were surprised Xiaomi did not raise the price. The price of the phone remains at a very affordable S$169 in white at mi.com from 17 March 2015 at 12pm.
The Redmi 2 has been manufactured with a choice of three pastel colours (pink, yellow and turquoise) but only white will be available in Singapore.
The 4G Dual SIM, Dual Standby feature of this smartphone makes it a strong contender to the smartphone market out there. Previous versions of Xiaomi’s phones had only 3G dual sim. Both slots support 4G, 3G and 2G and you can customise labels for each SIM slot to indicate “work” and “personal”.
Redmi 2 is 15gms lighter than the Redmi 1S and smaller in every dimension with a 1mm narrower bezel. Both the Redmi 2 and Redmi 1S has the same screen size of 4.7 inches.

The smartphone runs on the latest MIUI which lets you organise icons and home screen pages easily, bulk delete apps, view incoming calls discreetly when an app is in full screen mode.
