8 January 2013, Tokyo – Nikon 1 advanced cameras with interchangeable lenses were unveiled today – the Nikon 1 J3 and Nikon 1 S1. The Nikon 1 is a compact, lightweight camera system that offers interchangeable lenses, with superior, high-speed performance through its Advanced Hybrid AF System for optimal focusing and functions including the Smart Photo Selector and Motion Snapshot. Other features of the the two models include having the smallest body measuring 101mm x 60.5mm x 28.8mm and EXPEED 3A image-processing engine.
The pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.
Nikon 1 J3
The new branch in the J-series lineup offers even faster performance in the world’s smallest body in the interchangeable lens range of digtal cameras with a CX-format or larger image sensor available as of today.
The Nikon 1 J3 is faster that its predecessors. It supports high-speed continuous shooting at approximately 15fps with AF tracking. The Slow View function lets you capture the perfect moment while the Live Image Control allows you to preview the effects of settings in the camera monitor before shooting. The Smart Photo Selector and Motion Snapshot functions have been improved and you can record movies in various settings in the Advanced Movie mode.
Transfer images from your camera to a smart device over a wireless connection with the Wireless Mobile Adapter WU-1b which is sold separately. Both models of the Nikon 1 supports this adapter. A waterproof case compatible with both models will also be released.
There are five colour options – black, pink, red and white and khaki.
Nikon 1 S1
Intuitive operation in this range, the Nikon 1 S1 offers the same high-speed performance and other functions as the other Nikon 1 cameras. The Nikon 1 S1 is available in five colours.
