6 June 2012, Singapore – With the popularity of premium compact cameras such as the Canon S100 of Leica D Lux 5, Sony has entered this market with their latest Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 camera.  It comes packed with an impressive 1″ Exmor CMOS sensor with a resolution of 20.2 effective megapixels in a pocket-sized body.  The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 sensor is over two times larger than its rival, and in the digital photography “Sensor Size Does Matter”. The bigger sensor equals clearer, sharper, more details in the picture captured and better image quality in low light conditions.

The larger sensor is partnered with an ultra-bright Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens with 3.6x optical zoom range and a wide F1.8 maximum aperture that lets in more light to complement the resolving power of the large 1.0-type Exmor CMOS sensor. The Control Ring that surrounds the lens body allows smooth, fingertip adjustment of exposure, zoom, Picture Effect and other functions, it makes versatile DSLR-style creative control over your image easily accessible.

The new Cyber-shot RX100 digital compact camera from Sony will be available in Asia Pacific from July 2012.  We are looking forward to reviewing an actual unit of this new compact camera.  Check back again for our review.
