SiTF Awards 2011 – The Winners

2 August 2011, Singapore – Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF) today announced the winners of this year’s awards.  SiTF Awards is Singapore’s local infocommunications technology (ICT) industry awards which aims to promote and recognize innovations developed in Singapore.  13 out ot of the 177 entries received clinched the top awards in their respective categories.  Click The full list of winners of the 2011 SiTF Awards is as follows.

“As Singapore continues to keep its competitive edge in innovation, it is important to provide the right environment, support and recognition for locally developed ICT solutions or applications,” said Mr. Eddie Chau, SiTF Awards 2011 Organising Chairman and also the first Vice Chairman of SiTF. “The annual SiTF Awards continues to be a critical platform to discover innovations and to nurture new ideas. We are excited to see a year on year increase in the number of nominations. This year, the SiTF Awards received a total of 177 entries, an increase of 20% over last year; reflecting the vibrancy of the local ICT scene.”

All nominations were presented to a panel of judges made up of distinguished IT industry individuals, CIOs of user companies, investors, academics and senior government officers.

Applications Utilizing IT To Improve Processes and Help Save Lives

  • Smartphone Application by Dr. Dana Elliott Srither enables the general public to provide proper and effective techniques for chest compressions during CPR.
  • Vehicle Damage Assessment System by SMRT Corporation uses wireless technology to capture real-time information and feed it directly into the back-end system for further data analysis and reporting, helping to reduce data entry errors and improve repair turnaround time.
  • Integrated Health Information Systems Pte Ltd eliminated the traditional way of ordering medication for inpatients with an automated, intelligent system leveraging two-factor authentication that reduces human errors and improves ward efficiency, and is the first of such electronic end-to-end closed-loop medication management systems to be implemented in Asia Pacific.

Winning Entries From The Schools

  • Tampines Primary School students developed educational applications to promote more interactive learningwith their interactive game on global warming
  • Crescent Girls’ School students developed a mobile application of its school portal
  • Singapore Polytechnic’s School of Digital Media and Infocomm Technology students developed Silver Radar, a system designed for civil defense agency, integrating the whole rescue process from receiving an emergency call to the end of the rescue.

Judges’ Choice Award

This year a new award was given out to STOMP by Multimedia Centre, Singapore Press Holdings for the most innovative with the most market potential.   The judges felt that this application cleverly used mobile technology to facilitate instant news broadcasts by the public thus encouraging citizen journalism.

Other New Categories

ICT Team Excellence for Marketing and Technical Support was introduced to raise awareness and encourage adoption of ICT to improve user companies’ business and customer experiences.

 

Merit Awards

11 category merit awards were given out for their practical and sophisticated developments that were innovative and relevant to everyday life.  There were no recipients for the Cloud Technology and Digital Media Categories.

  • StarCr8’s iPad and iPhone app “See, Hear, Do”- unique and personalized teaching structure
  • PropertyGuru Agent Mobile App by AllProperty Media Pte Ltd – to help real estate agents increase response time
  • Encore initiative developed by Immigration and Checkpoints Authority – ease flow of entire application process in three areas of the customer lifecycle – Enquiry, Collection and Return.
  • FlickEvents (Start-up Category) – maximizes efficiency allowing one to set up an event page, create a ticketing and RSVP system and customize registration forms in just minutes.
  • ITE College East – E-Enterprise category
  • Niometrics – Emerging Technology category
  • Time Voyager Pte Ltd – Start-Up category
  • NCS Pte Ltd – ICT Team Excellence – Technical Support category
  • StarHub Ltd – ICT Team Excellence – Marketing category
  • Meridian Primary School, North Vista Primary School, Crescent Girls School and Temasek Polytechnic School of Informatics and IT also won Merit Awards
