Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 edge – The Much Improved S6 & S6 edge

With the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 edge smartphones, you know that Samsung is taking customers’ feedback seriously. With improvements like better camera performance, water & dust resistance, longer battery life, improved internal cooling system and a hybrid SIM card tray for either extra SIM card slot or expand the storage with an microSD card. Those are the little things general consumers like us care the most and Samsung gave it to us with S7 & S7 edge.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 edge with 32GB memory will be available from 12 March 2016 at S$998 & S$1,098 respectively. Only in Black Onyx, Silver Titanium and Gold Platinum at launch, the pre ordering will start as early as 26 February 2016 with complimentary Samsung Gear VR worth S$148 for successful orders. The collection for pre orders will be from 11 March 2016.

Design

Still maintaining the elegant and curvy design of the S6 & S6 edge, the S7 edge now comes with a bigger display at 5.5″ while the S7 remains petite with a 5.1″ QuadHD Super AMOLED Display. The new devices are also slightly thick than the S6 at 7.7mm and 7.9mm. Even though the devices are now water & dust resistant (IP68 – 1.5m for 30 mins), the design had not been compromised and there is no need for ugly watertight caps to keep the water & dust out of the ports like those found on Samsung Galaxy S5. That’s a BIG PLUS POINT!

 

Cameras

Both S7 edge & S7 are the first smartphone to have 12MP Dual Pixel camera which promise to deliver brighter and sharper images, even in low light with a F1.7 wide aperture lens and bigger pixel on the sensor. The camera also has a faster shutter speed and a more accurate autofocus even in low-light conditions. Perfect for mobile shutterbugs!

Performance & Gaming

S7 and S7 edge deliver fast wired and wireless charging technology. Additionally, the hybrid SIM card tray allows you to insert a microSD card for up to 200GB of additional storage and in some select countries, the tray can be used with a dual SIM card.

Samsung also made significant hardware and software updates to optimize gaming performance on S7 and S7 edge. The powerful processer and bigger battery capacity ensure longer playing time, and the internal cooling system keeps the device from overheating. Game Launcher, a new add-on for gamers, allows you to manage battery consumption and minimize notifications. Additionally, users can record their gaming experience or share their screen to play with others. Paired with S7 and S7 edge, Vulkan API gives you the ability to play high-performance graphic games with lower battery consumption.
