12 July 2011, Singapore – Philips Electronics is celebrating 60 years in Singapore.
Philips has become a trusted household brand over the past six decades providing innovative solutions and products for better health and well-being across its business units.
Some of Philips innovations worth noting are Philips Ambisound SoundBar and it’s lighting solutions for the Night Safari, the world’s first Formula One night race and the Singapore Flyer.
Philips will kick start activities to raise more than S$100,000 for three charities – Singapore Chesire Home, Lions Befrienders and Lighthouse School – in partnership with Community Chest. The consumer lifestyle division has already made a donation of 1 year’s supply of rice (4,500kg) to Singapore Chesire Home.
Last week, it opened the Philips’ Lighting Experience Centre to demonstrate how conventional and LED lighting can affect different spaces.
Based on the concept of “Future Living Spaces in Singapore”, there will be a call-for-ideas from tertiary students to encourage them to think about how living spaces can be transformed in the next 10 to 15 years, driven by trends of an aging population, increasing urbanization, crowded cities, and climate change.
The contest is open to all tertiary students from 29 July to 12 September, and the video contest entries will be made available for public voting online till 20 September. The top 20 entries will be identified by the highest number of votes. The judges will then pick the best idea as well as the most inspiring and most innovative ideas, from this list. The top 3 winners and the top entries, will win $10,000 worth of cash and products in prizes.
