The original Olympus OM-3Ti 35mm Film Camera may have lost out in terms of all the fancy touchscreen and WiFi functions the current OM iterations have, but it still maintains a cult following thanks to it being one of the most robust SLR cameras ever made. That is true for both its attributes as a camera as well as its solid titanium shell. Sadly, those who wish to own it will have to bear the sad news of its rarity. Only a couple of thousands were ever made, by hand.
Of course, I come bearing good news!
Olympus has announced a limited edition version of their award-winning OM-D E-M5 Mark II painted in the unique titanium colour fans loved in the OM-3Ti. Carry a piece of good old days (well, almost) with the specially crafted genuine leather strap, and snap away with the M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm f4.0-5.6 II that comes along with the set.
The camera will be functionally identical to the regular production of the E-M5 Mark II, with the same optical quality and reliability people loved in the OM series. It will be released in June 2015, but don’t wait around if you want to own this piece of legacy. Only 7,000 will be made! As proof of authenticity, it will even come with an owner’s card numbered 1 to 7,000, including an inspiration quote from the designer of the OM system, Mr. Yoshihisa Maitani, in a genuine leather case.
The limited edition OM-D EM5 MARK II set and exclusive accessories will be on sale starting June 2015.
