20 June 2011, Singapore – Just a week after SingTel announced its premium priority mobile broadband service, Priority Pass, M1 today announced the launch of its Long Term Evolution (LTE) based Next Generation Mobile network tomorrow, 21 June 2011.
M1’s dual band LTE network operates on both 1.8 GHz and 2.6 GHz frequency bands, and will have an initial theoretical downlink speed of 75 Mbps and uplink speed of 37.5Mbps, which will be upgraded by end 2012 to 150 Mbps and 75 Mbps respectively.
During launch, the network covers major areas within the financial district, including Marina Bay, Suntec, Shenton Way and other areas. The progressive coverage is expected to be islandwide by end of quarter one of 2012.
Enterprise customers can access M1’s Next Generation Mobile Network service via USB modems on existing mobile broadband plans at S$59.40 (with GST) per month. More LTE devices which include tablets and smartphones are expected to be available later this year according to a press release sent out by M1.
