Letv, a China-based company that offers streaming video service provider, have ventured into a new territory with the launch of their first batch of Letv Super Phones – namely Le 1, Le 1 Pro and Le Max. These Le Super Phones comes with premium and powerful hardware will be running on Android 5.0 and comes with Letv’s unique eUI that supports the current Letv ecosystem to create a smartphone that is one of its kind in the market and leverage of Letv’s strength in video streaming & entertainment beats.
If Samsung GALAXY Note series smartphones are made for executives, then Letv Super Phones are made for couch potatoes and celebrity fanatics. The eUI on phones will be a new platform for Letv subscribers to get instant celebrity updates on their calendar and pushed with suggested video contents based on their interest on a Letv interface or even instantly know the song track playing in the movies. WOW! “This is a dream come true for couch potatoes.” Maybe with Le Super Phones, you can get your sofa bounded friend to got to the gym and run on the treadmill while viewing the latest episode of a hit TV series on the run.
Other than its entertainment features, Le Super Phones also comes with high end hardware to support all your lifestyle needs from gaming to photo taking that were mentioned by Letv founder, Jia Yueting, to match and even supersede Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus. But I am having doubts on these claims as during the keynote in Beijing, which I have attended, there was a lot of key focus on its bezel free design and how beautiful the Le 1 and Le 1 Pro looks without the bezel. But when I got a chance to try out the phones myself, the bezel free does not imply to the screen display, so display are enveloped in a black border which I felt disappointed as I assume it would be a borderless on the display.
As for its design, it seems to take a lot reference from HTC ONE series smartphones which is not bad but just that Le Super Phones are much chunkier and thicker. If you are intending to upgrade to a premium looking smartphone and not willing to pay a high price, Letv’s Super Phones may be a good choice as they hae declared in Beijing that they are selling the units at below their production costs and they are not making any earnings when selling these devices. So the Le 1 will be priced from RMB1,499 (approx. S$328), Le 1 Pro from RMB2,499 (approx. S$547) and the Le Max price will be determined by consumers via public voting.
Hopefully this pricing can be maintained when it reach Singapore retail shelves later this year. Check out their specs below:
