Now with the differences cleared, we can talk about the cool new features on the iPhone 12 series of smartphones. Oh wait… I forgot to mention. This year’s iPhone 12 models will all not come with charger and EarPods. It will only have a cable in the box. You can use all your existing USB chargers for your charging needs. This is Apple’s initiative to help save the environment with less carbon footprint and wastage. So the box will be slimmer too.
iPhone 12 Powerful As EVER
Generations ahead of the competition, iPhone 12 series will all be using the all new A14 Bionic. It is the first chip in the smartphone industry built on 5-nanometer process. Faster and more efficient than ever, A14 Bionic has the fastest CPU and GPU by up to 50 percent compared to the fastest competing smartphone chips, enabling console-quality gaming experiences, powerful computational photography, and more, while delivering great battery life. Pushing the limits of machine learning (ML), A14 Bionic features a 16-core Neural Engine — for an 80 percent increase in performance — that is capable of completing 11 trillion operations per second, enabling improved performance on even the most intense ML models.
5G Is Here
Featuring the most 5G bands on any smartphone, iPhone 12 models offer the broadest 5G coverage worldwide. iPhone 12 models also feature Smart Data mode, which extends battery life by intelligently assessing 5G needs and balancing data usage, speed, and power in real time.
5G on iPhone boasts improved speeds for faster downloads and uploads, higher quality video streaming, more responsive gaming, real-time interactivity in apps, FaceTime in high definition, and much more. You will also be able to enjoy a secure, fast connection, reducing the need to connect to public Wi-Fi hotspots.
See Better And Yet Tougher
All from the iPhone 12 series, will have Super Retina XDR displays that stretch further to the edges, with systemwide colour management for industry-leading colour accuracy. The new display deliver a 2 million-to-1 contrast ratio for true blacks, and an immersive HDR viewing experience for high-definition video, photos with more detail, and nearly twice the peak brightness of iPhone 11.
The iPhone 12 and 12 mini sleek new flat-edge design with an aerospace-grade aluminium enclosure and combined with the Ceramic Shield front cover, which goes beyond glass by adding a new high temperature crystallisation step that grows nano-ceramic crystals within the glass matrix, increases drop performance by 4x. iPhone 12 Pro models will also have the same Ceramic Shield, but paired with gorgeous surgical-grade stainless steel band paired with a precision-milled matte glass back.
All iPhone 12 models will have IP68 rating for water resistance up to 6 meters for up to 30 minutes, and are protected against everyday spills, including coffee and soda.
Better Camera
iPhone 12 and 12 mini will have an advanced dual camera system features the Ultra Wide camera and a new Wide camera with an ƒ/1.6 aperture, the fastest yet on iPhone, providing 27 percent more light for even more amazing low-light photos and videos. Computational photography is taken to the next level on iPhone 12 models with Night mode and faster-performing Deep Fusion now on all cameras — TrueDepth, Wide, and Ultra Wide — for improved photos in any environment.
You will experience brighter pictures and better contrast for photos shot in low-light settings with Night mode, and more texture and less noise in Deep Fusion photos. Smart HDR 3 uses ML to intelligently adjust the white balance, contrast, texture, and saturation of a photo for remarkably natural-looking images. And Night mode Time-Lapse delivers longer exposure times for sharper videos, better light trails, and smoother exposure in low-light scenarios when used with a tripod.
iPhone 12 Pro will have the same setup with the addition of a 52 mm focal length Telephoto camera, great for framing portraits, bringing the optical zoom range to 4x.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max will have a 65 mm focal length Telephoto camera for increased flexibility with closer shots and tighter crops. Combined, this system offers 5x optical zoom range. The iPhone 12 Pro Max wide angle camera will also have 47 per cent larger sensor with 1.7μm pixels for a massive 87 percent improvement in low-light conditions. It will also have new Sensor-Shift Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), while the other three variants will only have OIS on the wide angle camera.
An all-new LiDAR Scanner comes to the Pro line, offering the ability to measure light distance and use pixel depth information of a scene. This technology delivers faster, more realistic AR experiences and improves autofocus by 6x in low-light scenes for more accuracy and reduced capture time in photos and videos.
PRO Grade Editing Features
Only on iPhone 12 Pro models. The new Apple ProRAW is coming later this year. It combines Apple’s multiframe image processing and computational photography with the versatility of a RAW format. Experience full creative control over colour, detail, and dynamic range natively on iPhone or with other professional photo editing apps.
All iPhone 12 models offer the highest quality video in a smartphone. They are the first cameras and only devices to enable an end-to-end experience for HDR video with Dolby Vision, up to 60 fps, and even better video stabilisation for cinema-grade productions. Dolby Vision grading is processed live and sustained during editing. This can be done in the Photos app or iMovie. It will be coming to Final Cut Pro X later this year.
MagSafe Is SO COOL
Wireless charging is better and more efficient with MagSafe. It provides an ecosystem of easy-to-attach accessories that beautifully complement iPhone 12 models. An array of magnets around the wireless charging coil are optimised for alignment and efficiency. It perfectly connects to iPhone every time. What’s more, MagSafe chargers efficiently provide up to 15W of power while still accommodating existing Qi-enabled devices. Charging solutions include the MagSafe Charger and Duo Charger. They can be used with iPhone and Apple Watch. This is in addition to the new silicone, leather, and clear cases that snap onto the iPhone or leather wallet. Look out for innovative MagSafe accessories from third-party manufacturers.
