14 December 2012, Singapore – Looks like Google has gotten back into iOS devices with the launch of Google Maps for the iPhone yesterday. Youtube also launched a new iPad app and added in more functions for iOS devices.
The new app for Youtube features improved search and faster loading with more ways to share as well as a new user interface.
Yesterday, Google Maps for iPhone was made available to the more than 40 countries in 29 languages in the Apple App Store. Showing more map on the screen and offering an intuitive experience, the new app has a sharper looking, vector-based map that loads quickly and allows smooth tilting and rotating of 2D and 3D views. You can search by entering names of restaurant or shop and an expandable info sheet appears at the bottom with the address, operating hours, ratings, reviews, images, directions and other useful information.
Google is also releasing the Google Maps SDK for iOS and a simple URL scheme to help developers easily use Google Maps when building apps.
