I don’t have the looks or the body of a K-pop idol, and this can make taking photos a little more intimidating sometimes. But during travels, photos are important keepsakes to remember your trip by. For those of you who are unconfident in front of the camera, don’t worry – I’ve figured out the best way to look good while having fun taking my pictures.
And you do not need to spend big bucks to do just that. The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE does a great job – with a great starting price of S$888.
Here are some tips I have on getting the best shots, especially useful for your travels!
Hide What You Don’t Like
The art of tactical hiding can be made easy with placement of your hands and legs. Know the camera angle and cleverly place it to cover or to distract the attention from what you don’t want people to pay attention to. For me, it’s my tummy.
You can start easily with a natural and comfy pose. See how my hands have managed to block out my waistline. Crossing your legs will help too.
This sitting on the floor short requires an intentional pose involving both the hands and leg, but yet it looks like a casual everyday pose.
Sometimes, a cushion works too to hide what you do not want attention for. Just try not to hug the cushion too tight. It’s too obvious.
I Can Look Good in Pool Shots Too
Part of going on a beach holiday is to get into the water at some point.
However, it can be difficult to get a perfect pool shot! While we might be uncomfortable showing skin, wearing a shirt in the water can look weird.
This is how chunky I look when I do not use my tricks…
So, the key point here is letting the focus be on your shoulders and neckline, rather than anywhere else.
If your body is seen in a shot while in water, try to use the leg closest to the camera to hide your waistline to create an illusion!
You can also try the lean against the pool side for pictures too for wide shots which places you as a subject against a picturesque landscape. Simple and effective.
Confidence Achieved by Not Looking At the Camera
Most of the time, I find people being awkward in front of the camera.
My go-to trick? A cup.
I find that when you offer a cup to the “model”, it helps them look more relaxed and natural in the shot.
With the help of Portrait Mode on the Galaxy S23 FE, the soft bokeh will make it look like a perfect IG travel photo.
Beside the cup trick, you can also defer to a “sexy back” pose to avoid facing the camera altogether.
Now in low-light scenarios, you may want to activate Nightography mode, where you can capture a great photo with little light and minimal edits! The Galaxy S23 FE’s Nightography mode also works great with zoom.
What Makes the Galaxy S23 FE Great for Travels
As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy S23 FE takes great pictures and makes showing off your travels on socials easy. It’s also rated IP68 rating dust and water resistance, which means extra peace of mind when going out and about during your travels! Available in a variety of colours, the Samsung S23 FE is also compatible with a range of accessories too. To keep track of your belongings during your travels, the Galaxy SmartTag2 is a fuss free way to do just that. And it comes with up to 500 days of battery life.
And in the unfortunate case where you misplace your Galaxy S23 FE, you’ll also be able to pinpoint its whereabouts using Samsung’s Find My Mobile. Plus, with Samsung Knox protection, sensitive and personal data are secured and content such as passwords, biometrics, and cryptographic keys are all safe. As a last resort, you also have the option to remotely wipe the phone’s data if needed.
If you are looking to travel lugging around a laptop, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE is a great option for a premium tablet experience at a price friendly to the wallet. Now, you can watch your favourite dramas on a bigger screen than your phone. The S Pen with the tablet also makes scribbling and cutting out to make stickers so much easier too.
