From 15 August 2013, SingTel will be the first carrier in Southeast Asia to allow their postpaid or prepaid subscribers to charge their purchases on Google Play directly to SingTel account. With this simple & convenient payment option in place, SingTel subscribers do not need a credit card to pay for apps and content on Google Play. They can also enjoy the one-stop convenience of having all of their app purchases consolidated into a single easy-to-manage bill.
“SingTel is excited to offer customers, who do not have credit cards, access to more than one million apps and games available on Google Play. The introduction of direct carrier billing is part of our ongoing efforts to provide our customers with the best and most seamless Android experience.” – Ms Gan Siok Hoon, SingTel’s Vice President of mCommerce
Signing-up for operator billing is easy and can be completed within minutes. After selecting the apps to purchase, a simple one-time registration and validation is all that is required to enable customers to start making secure purchases. This new service will also be progressively rolled out to Optus and SingTel’s regional associates.
