Accor will offer PressReader service to guests of its brands of hotels which include familiar names such as Sofitel, Pullman, Mercure, ibis, Novotel and others by the first quarter of 2015. This service lets hotel guests read more than 3,000 international and local newspapers and magazines on their own devices including smartphones, laptops and tablets, regardless of operating systems.

E-readers have become popular of late and another French company offers this service to its clients – Air France. Air France’s digital press app, AF Press was named best service innovation in the third edition of I’Echo touristique magazine’s Innovation Awards. AF Press allows customers with tablets to download up to twelve magazines and sixteen French and international newspapers. Customers can access the app from 24 hours before their flight and until the time of departure in Air France’s lounges, boarding areas and on board its aircraft.
Closer to home in Singapore, ibis Bencoolen, an Accor property launched the handy smartphone service that offers hotel guests unlimited 3G internet, local and international calls to 26 countries with a guide to Singapore. This initiative aims to be more environmentally friendly with less printed materials from in-room directories.
