So the once-a-year tradition of meet and greet session with the who’s who in the world of Formula 1 racing continues for the team at SUPERADRIANME.com here in Singapore. Last year, we had the honours of the true F1 fans in our team Sylvia and JF covering Formula 1 season while some of us escaped to Bali for a vacation. Read her roundup here.
This year, it is the duo’s turn to take a vacation far far away in St. Petersburg while Jessica, Dennis and myself get to take turns in covering the lifestyle elements of this motor sport.
The 2015 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix started for me on Wednesday, while the bulk of the drivers’ meet and greet sessions happened on Thursday. Read about them below or you can also check out more photos on our FACEBOOK PAGE.
Romain Grosjean and G.H. Mumm
I visited the new bar at the 11th floor office of Pernod Ricard Singapore at Great World City and sipped G.H. Mumm champagne with Romain Grosjean. While someone sneaked a cheeky question about what he thought about Singapore women and if he would date them, Romain sheepishly smiled and replied that he is currently happily married and before that he once dated a Singaporean woman. It was all fun the night with no serious motor sports questions.
The bar was crowded with office staff, some trade partners and media and it was full! I was wondering why I never worked in a company that had such a big bar with copious amounts of alcohol.
Kimi Raikkonen and UPS
Nicknamed “The Ice Man”, Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen will be driving for Ferrari this F1 season in the Singapore leg.
At the press event, he assured his fans that he will not let the night (or haze) faze him, giving hope to seeing him on the podium. He ended with a strong qualifying position of No.5 with 10 points in the earlier Italian Grand Prix, and hopes to continue on strong for the night race.
Sebastian Vettel and The President’s Challenge Charity
Sebastian Vettel made a special appearance at a cocktail party for President’s Challenge Charity at Ferrari Store in Marina Bay Sands. Our president Dr Tony Tan was amongst the guests that grace the event. The President’s Challenge Charity is where Ferrari owners who each made a contribution to the President’s Charity in return for the thrill of driving on the same track as Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raïkkönen.
Lewis Hamilton and Epson
Epson, the official team partner of Mercedes AMG Petronas since January this year, provides the team with portable printers and scanners trackside to aid team operations. It is working with the team on a project involving its health sensing Moverio sunglasses Runsens and Pulsense. The technology company has added this Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 sponsorship in addition to its other sports sponsorships such as the Asian Football Confederation, Manchester United.
At the event held on 17 September 2015 at Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Singapore, local karter Amin Noorzilan got to shake the hands of Lewis Hamilton and ask him questions. The 17 year old aspiring kart racer is part of Epson’s CSR effort to nurture young local motorsports talent in Singapore. Amin has won three back-to-back national karting championships in the junior class from 2010 to 2012.
Daniel Ricciardo and Casio EDIFICE
Dennis was at Casio EDIFICE’s meet and greet with Red Bull Racing Team’s Daniel Ricciardo at Marina Bay Sands. Daniel Ricciardo and his team will be chasing after Ferrari team by Kimi & Sebastian for 3rd & 4th spot in the ranking.
During the event, Daniel was sporting & competitive during the timepiece challenge with fans from Singapore, Malaysia & Thailand. They were challenging to be the fastest to change the timezone on the Casio EDIFICE watch. Before leaving, he approached his fans for chats & selfies with his million dollar smile.
Nico Rosberg and Mercedes
The son of 1982 world champion Keke Rosberg, Nico Rosberg will be aiming for the No.1 spot with Mercedes latest spec-Monza engine in the Singapore Grand Prix. He is excited to be back in Singapore, and is hoping to break his best finish record of second back in 2008.
During the press conference, he confesses that his wife and daughter are his driving force. So much so that the first thing he did after winning second in 2014’s F1 World Championship was to FaceTime them!
Jenson Button and Tag Heuer Helmets
We could not make it to Jenson Button’s appearance at Tag Heuer in Wisma Atria. But we thought we shared some of the photos Tag Heuer sent over to us.
The Tag Heuer ambassador talked about the design of his helmet and chose the winner of the Tag Heuer Art Helmet Design Competition. The competition is a partnership between the Swiss luxury watchmaker and LASALLE College of the Arts. 80 LASALLE students submitted 38 helmet designs of which only seven were fabricated and on display at Wisma for public viewing.
