Besides Red Bull Racing, if someone deserves the name “Red Bull” it’s Fernando Alonso. First because he drives a blood red Ferrari, then because Fernando is known as the “bull of Asturias”, after the Spanish province of Asturias, home of his native town Oviedo.
Twice world champion in 2005 and 2006 for Renault, the “bull of Asturias” has been very close to winning again in 2007 (McLaren), and then 2010 by four points (Ferrari) and 2012 (Ferrari) by three so near yet so far points.
But this year, he is trailing at fourth place in the championship, far far behind the Mercedes boys Rosberg and Hamilton.
What’s wrong with the car Fernando? Horse power? Over steering? Top speed? The Spaniard answers with a selection of worried faces
But ask him about the upcoming race and the bull of Asturias regains his fighting spirit. The man never gives up! Fernando Alonso was the winner of the inaugural SGP in 2008, and again in 2010,he was on the podium in 2009, 2013 and again in 2013.
He finished fourth in Singapore, at the door step of the podium. Till 2015, Alonso!
