Casio EDIFICE is the official timepiece sponsor for Red Bull Racing Team. Casio offered us a behind-the-scenes view of the 2015 Singapore Airlines Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix right from the garage and paddock on race day.
Time is very important to all F1 Race Teams. Do you know that no matter where the race is held, the crew and the drivers still sleep and eat according to the European time zone?
I was expecting to see some shouting and running havoc in the garage during race day. Instead, it was especially peaceful & quiet. With everyone knowing their specific task and role during the race, not much communication was needed to get the things going smoothly. Everyone in the garage were focused to ensure the drivers get top performance from their vehicles to achieve the best results. Teamwork, precision and timing is crucial to winning any F1 race, other than the performance of the engine and driver.

It was over-the-top camaraderie when you see the crew pushing & forcing their way through the security just to to the podium, to cheering, singing their anthem and waving their national flag to celebrate victory at the awards ceremony.
With these new perspectives of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, I am beginning to like and know the sport better. It is no longer a boring sport where the drivers go round the track for 61 laps and call it a day.
It is the passion and commitment of the drivers and crew that will put me at the edge of my seat whenever the driver cuts an acute corner to overtake its competition. I would now skip a heart beat when part of the vehicle shatters into pieces during a collision and applaud for a good catch up by drivers who were placed far behind at the start of the race.
Other than the fast action in the garage, walking down the paddock will be a star struck moment for all F1 fans. You get to see F1 drivers or legends such as Sir Jackie Stewart, who won three World Drivers’ Championships and twice runner-up over nine seasons from 1965 to 1973 was given the nickname of “Flying Scot”.
And I was lucky to take a selfie with Infiniti Red Bull Racing driver, Daniel Ricciardo, just before the race. That’s a great way to end my 2015 Singapore Airlines Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix Night Race.
