28 August 2011, Los Angeles, Ca – The 28th MTV Video Music Awards airs LIVE Sunday, August 28th from Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9pm Eastern Time and Pacific Time.
Potentially more than 1.2 billion people will be watching the awards ceremony via MTV’s global network of more than 60 channels reaching more than 640 million households around the world as well as through syndication. In addition, it’s convergent programming and content will reach the entire interactive community, via MTV’s nearly 200 digital media properties around the world.
NOMINEES THIS YEAR
On 28th July this year, MTV announced the nominees for this year’s 14 VMA categories.
KATY PERRY leads the way with 9 VMA nominations which include “Video of the Year” and “Best Female Video”, for her explosive hit “Firework”, “Best Pop Video” for Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) and “Best Special Effects” for her her chart-topping hit and this year’s top selling digital song in the U.S. “E.T>” featuring Kanye West.
ADELE has garnered seven nominations for her soulful smash hit “Rolling In The Deep“. KANYE WEST is the alpha male VMA nominee also racking up seven nominations for his collaborations with Perry, as well as for his powerful and artistic videos “All of The Lights” and “Power“.
The 2011 VMA nominee landscape is filled with MTV veterans and newcomers alike. Silky, smooth singer / songwriter Bruno Mars is up for four coveted Moonman awards. Beyoncé, Eminem, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, and Thirty Seconds To Mars, have three VMA nominations apiece. Beastie Boys, Chris Brown, Pitbull, Lil Wayne, as well as first time VMA nominees, Tyler, The Creator, Foster the People and Manchester Orchestra all have two nods each for Moonmen this year.

ENTERTAINMENT LINEUP
British singer-songwriter and chart-topper Adele, whose quadruple platinum hit single “Rolling in the Deep” rwill make her VMA performance debut at this year’s show. With an impressive year under his belt and three nominations in his pocket, including “Best Hip Hop,” superstar music mogul Lil Wayne is aiming to take the VMA crown once he hits the stage to perform. After his memorable debut at the 2007 VMAs, Chris Brown, who has multiple VMA nods, is ready to up his game and unleash another huge performance.
With this performance and four VMA nominations including “Video of the Year,” the multi-talented singer, musician, songwriter and producer BRUNO MARS continues to add to an extraordinary year of achievements that include: his multi-platinum certified debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, co-writing, producing and performing on the smash-hits B.o.B’s “Nothin’ On You,” Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire” and Cee Lo Green’s “F**k You! (Forget You)” as well as his hit singles, “Just The Way You Are,” “Grenade” and “The Lazy Song.” Additionally, the first round of 2011 VMA presenters have been announced from the world of music and pop culture including: Jonah Hill from the upcoming film Moneyball, the Teflon Don aka The Boss Rick Ross, Seth Rogen from the movie 50/50, platinum recording artist and Emmy Award-winning actress Selena Gomez, Keeping Up With The Kardashians very own Kim Kardashian, and hip-hop’s most innovative alternative collective, Odd Future.
