A new 650 sqm Philips Consumer Care centre will be opened to public from 26 September 2016 with experiential zones for customers to touch and feel and get to know the products before buying them. You can purchase the items on the spot and carry them home or arrange for them to be delivered. This centre is housed within the recently opened Philips APAC Centre in Toa Payoh.

The different experiential zones have been designed to recreate various rooms within the home. There is a living room, kitchen, vanity counter in the bedroom and a kid’s room. Now you can get hands-on so you and try out the new products first hand, ask about their features before making the purchase.

This community space has also been designed for workshops, cooking classes and exclusive events.

In this zone, we were given a demonstration of the new Philips Air Purifier Series 2000 which eliminates pollutants and provides real-time feedback on the indoor air quality. In fact it comes with three smart auto modes – Pollution, Allergen and Bacteria & Virus. You can adjust the air purifier’s performance according to your needs. The Ac2887/30 model comes with a professional-grade AeraSense sensor which detects and adjusts rapidly to pollutants. This patented AeraSense technology is more accurate in detecting harmful airborne particles, even those smaller than 2.5 micrometres.

There is an area that looks like a bathroom. Here you can try out the latest Philips StraightCare Vivid Ends Straightener (RRP S$109) as well as the Philips StyleCare Sublime Ends Curler (RRP S$79). The new Sublime Ends range of hairstyling tools help prevent damage from heat styling.

The Philips Avance Collection Indoor Grill was also quite tempting. Priced at S$499, and only available in January 2017 in Singapore, you can enjoy grilling in your home with up to 80% less smoke with a constant heat of 230 degrees Celsius. It is easy to set up and also easy to clean. The parts are detachable and dishwasher-proof.

Philips Light Lab

What I found more exciting was the new Light Lab which is located next to the Consumer Care Centre. Set up with various experiential zones as well, come here to get ideas how to light up your home. We strongly encourage to step in just to check it out.

The Philips Light Lab showcases some of the light pieces from LUCEPLAN as well as Modular Lighting Instruments. There are some very beautiful and impressive lights and lampshades on display.

Light Bulbs & Hue

A whole range of Philips light bulbs are on display and sold at the Light Lab. Test them out. I was rather drawn to the decorative dimmable Filament lights. They were not too hot compared to those tungsten or incandescent light bulbs. Imagine these beautiful light bulbs hanging at different lengths in your living room.

Another favourite of mine is the Philips Hue lighting system. It is a web-enabled LED home lighting system. A Philips Hue Starter Pack does not come cheap. Priced at S$289, the starter pack comes with three bulbs that you can screw into your existing lamps, and a bridge that you plug into your home Wi-Fi router. It is easy to use or set up. Just download the Hue app for iOS or Android and you can start configuring the way you set up your lights.  If you prefer a physical switch to control your lights, you can purchase the Philips Hue Tap Control at S$89. This comes especially useful if there are not so tech-savvy individuals at home.

The new Philips Hue Go is a portable lamp. It can also be controlled through the Hue app or there are a few light modes that can be selected by pressing the button below the lamp. A full charge lets you use the Hue Go lamp for three hours in battery mode. You can bring the lamp with you for a night out to the park, or use it to create a romantic ambience in a hotel room bath tub. The Philips Hue Go is priced at S$109. I got two sets for myself!

Other new innovations for the Hue lighting System include the Philips Hue Motion Sensor which will only be available in Singapore next year. The wireless, battery powered, magnetic and adjustable motion sensor lets you control your lights through movement in your home. The Philips Hue Dimmer Switch will also be available in Singapore next year.

The new Philips Consumer Care Centre and the Philips Light Lab could be your new one-stop solution for home appliances and your home lighting solution. The operating hours for the Consumer Care Centre are from 9am to 6pm on Mondays to Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. They are closed on Sundays and Public Holidays. The Light Lab has slightly longer hours of operation closing at 7pm on weekdays and 3pm on Saturdays.

  1. I ordered a replacement rice cooker pot from customer service, Toa Payoh. I was told that when the pot is available at the Toa Payoh centre for collection and payment, I will get an SMS. It has been more than a month and I’m still awaiting for your SMS!!!!

The pot is for Rice Cooker HD3031/03 and I was told it cost $16.

Please email me your reply, query etc to help resolve this ASAP. Thank you. Quek

I’m very disappointed by this kind of customer service.

  2. Philips lighting hub is only until 1pm. Went there thinking it was up to 3pm but it wasn’t..
