After having his legs shaved off for charity and serving on board AirAsia X flight from Perth to Kuala Lumpur on 12 May 2013, Sir Richard Branson is in Singapore for a string of activities. This morning the founder of Virgin Group officially launched the first Virgin Active Fitness club in Asia which will be located in the Central Business District and scheduled to open in third quarter this year. Spanning over 33,000 square feet across three storeys at Tower 2 of One Raffles Place, the gym is expected to be spacious.
Virgin Active has 269 clubs and more than 1.3 million members with annual revenues in excess of US$1 billion. It currently has a presence in UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, South Africa an Australia. There are plans to expand another six clubs over the next few years across Southeast Asia with Thailand likely to be the next country that Virgin Active will be introduced.
Club membership will be available with an initial four-week period which renews in fortnightly increments. Members are able to leave at anytime by informing the gym at least three days ahead of their fortnightly renewal. Now there is no need for a long term commitment for the commitment phobic individual.
Membership comes with privileges. You can expect a relax and recovery zone which provides a full steam, ice and shower experience together with footbaths, complimentary reflexology and a salt inhalation room. You can even take a lunchtime power nap in one of the club’s sleep pods or grab a coffee or eat in the members lounge which comes with free wi-fi and a private meeting room.
Over 150 classes will be made available every week. Visit www.virginactive.com.sg for more information.
