The talk of the town, and on everyone’s lips – Western Australia. Proven by the successful conclusion of Margaret River Gourmet Escape and launch of Margaret River First Class, Singapore is getting familiar with the rich bounty of wagyu beef, abalone, cherries and, of course, premium wines unique to the region. We will soon be able to skip the 5 hour flight, and savour the best right at our doorstep, all thanks to the Government of Western Australia’s new initiative, Western Australia Worth Sharing.
Over 60 companies, ranging from the most successful agricultural exporters to small, family-run businesses, have signed up to bring us a taste of their world-class produce. Besides familiar names such as Vasse Felix (wine), Margaret River Wagyu Beef (beef) and Three Farmers Quinoa (grains), the kitchens, here, will also be stocked with sustainable wild origin abalone from Lucky Bay Seafoods, stone ground chocolate from Bahen & Co. to the region’s indigenious (and incredibly healthy) yabbies from Cambinata Yabbies.
The export-focused agriculture brand also wants to showcase the high quality, pride and commitment the producers have in creating a product from start to finish, in modern and sustainable methods. Free-range cattle, organic wines from premium wine producing areas and grain-fed seafood from pollution-free waters are just a glimpse of what they can, or have been, offering to our kitchens.
Diners can already savour a taste of the region at local restaurants. Chef Martin Satow is known to use Margaret River Wagyu Tomahawk Steak for Mezza9 at Grand Hyatt Singapore, while avocados from Avovita are already available at the gourmet grocery store, Farm To Table.
