Korean Wave Invades Chatterbox, Mandarin Orchard

25 October 2012, Singapore – Korean cuisine invades Chatterbox, home of Mandarin Chicken Rice. Feast on the Korean national dish, Samgyetang, at Chatterbox from 26 October to 1 November 2012.

Executive Sous Chef Chang-bae Lee of The Shilla Seoul, will be showcasing his signature Samgyetang, commonly known here as Ginseng Chicken Soup. As Korea has four distinct seasons, it is a Korean custom to choose the 3 hottest days of their summer to eat exceptionally nourishing foods. Koreans call this hot season ‘Sambok’ which consists of three hottest periods in summer, ‘Chobok’, ‘Jungbok’ and ‘Malbok’.

Samgyetang, is a traditional cuisine and its soup is believed to cool one’s body temperature during hot and humid days. The young chicken is stuffed with glutinous rice and flavoured with nutritious jujube, chestnut bits and Korean ginseng. The chicken is then boiled in a clear stock and served in an individual earthenware pot.

Available from 26 October to 1 November 2012, during lunch and dinner.
