I scream, you scream for ice cream!
Anyone who loves ice cream and all things sweet must have heard of Honey Creme. You know, that ice cream store at the corner of 313@Somerset which saw an unrelenting queue during its opening? I did not even get close to tasting it until months later, and got hooked onto their creamy Alishan Milk Tea Flavour.
This year, for SG50, the Taiwanese soft serve brand gets local with two new flavours; Pandan Gula Melaka and Cereal Milk. The former will even have a home-made Merlion-shaped cookie when purchased over the National Day weekend, from the 7 to 10 August 2015, to get us all powered up for the big day!
Pandan Gula Melaka
The all-natural soft serve (fresh, too – I had to wait 15 minutes in between flavours) will come bright green with a subtle pandan flavour, layered with crunchy puffed rice, chewy palm seeds with sweet and savoury preservative free coconut chips straight from Thailand sprinkled on top. Gula Melaka syrup is served in a pipette on the side, so its level of caramel-esque sweetness is completely up to your liking.
Pandan flavour really isn’t new, it is almost a staple here. This means that everyone in Singapore, takes their pandan seriously – we don’t take less than perfection for an answer. Honey Crème makes sure that we get the real deal by getting the full flavour through the traditional method of blending pandan leaves and squeezing them for the extract concentrate.
It is refreshing, for sure. I love the parfait combination, with the coconut chips being my absolute favourite. I wish I had managed to wrestle the location of these addictive crunch, but the owners would not budge.
The parfait will only be available from 1 June to 30 September 2015 at the 313@Somerset Outlet, and Mid-July to 30 September 2015 at their brand new branch at JEM.
Cereal Milk
As part of opening celebration for their brand new space at JEM, Honey Creme will be launching the new Cereal Milk flavour there exclusively.
It is a sweet desert twist on a breakfast staple, with generous top and bottom layers of crunchy cornflakes, and a salty buttery cereal mix. Sweet at first, followed by a creamy, salty aftertaste – a simple cold treat. It is a flavour fans of salted caramel will enjoy.
This flavour will be a permanent fixture, starting mid-July and 1 June 2015 at JEM and 313@Somerset respectively.
