PUTIEN’s annual Duotou Clam season is back. From 15 April to 15 August 2025, enjoy the prized clams from Duotou village in Putian, Fujian. These clams are sweet, plump, and packed with natural flavour. They are flown in live. Only available for a limited time.
PUTIEN offers eight dishes this year. Three are new. You can pick any two dishes for $48.80.
What Makes Duotou Clams So Special
Duotou clams are grown in nutrient-rich black mud that takes over a thousand years to form. It is full of minerals and algae. The seawater in the area is saltier than normal. This makes the clams fatter and sweeter. Farmers hand-plant each clam in the mudflats of Duotou village, where they grow slowly and naturally. The clams bury themselves as deep as 30cm, and harvesting them is done entirely by hand to protect the environment. It can take two hours to collect just one bucket. This labour-intensive method has been passed down for over 600 years. PUTIEN is the official promoter of Duotou Clams and was recognised by the local government in 2019.
