BAO WOW Opens In Wan Chai, Hong Kong

Bao Wow

Taiwanese street food Gua Baos now come in a modern twist to Hong Kong in December. Offered by a new restaurant Bao Wow, these Baos are freshly made and steamed in traditional Chinese bamboo steamer to preserve texture and flavour. Each Bao is a combination of sweet, sour and salty.

The Original Gua Bao has braised pork belly, Chinese relish, crushed peanuts with Taiwanese red sugar, and cilantro stuffed into a fluffy steamed Bao. Another variation includes the Kimchi Bulgogi Bao. Freshly grilled beef and bean sprouts topped with homemade Kimchi and Bulgogi sauce. You can also customise your own bao with Bao Wow’s various fillings and sauces.

Side dishes such as Kimchili Cheese Taro Fries, Fried Mushrooms or Fried Shrimp Wontons are also available at HK$48. Desserts are made from the same dough used for the Baos. Fried Ice-Cream Baowiches come in green tea and red bean or vanilla and condensed milk at HK$38 or Cut Fried Bao (crispy fried dough served with an Ovaltine condensed milk dripping sauce at HK$28.

The Bao Wow restaurant will utilise elements of concrete, wood, steel and white tiles to create a sleek, contemporary atmosphere. You can expect lots of red and white in the restaurant. There will be six different variations of Baos priced at HK$58 per order of two baos.

Bao Wow is celebrating its opening with a special combination of two “baowiches” and a drink at a promotional price of HK$58.

Bao Wow is located at Shop No. 2, 28 Tai Wong Street East, Wan Chai. Opens in December 2013.
