With services like Airbnb and GrabTaxi sending Mao Shan Wangs straight to our doorstep, the world is becoming increasingly dependent on mobile apps. Now imagine combining both of that for the one thing many of us love most in the world; beauty.
In comes Vanitee (FB/Instagram), an online booking destination for beauty services from independent and emerging artists. Available online, and, more conveniently, on the iOS/Android app store, it can search, chat with and book for a wide range of services, including manicures, makeup, facials to hairstyling, with just a tap of the finger – no phone calls, no emails.
Not only will the results be based on your location, but will also filter for house calls. Talk about no longer having to drag yourself halfway across the island to town for a facial, scour all over Singapore looking for 3D Sailormoon nail art, or get into panic mode when there is a big fancy dinner hours away.
Vanitee promises that all artists hosted on their app have been carefully selected and verified by their Artist Care Team based on strict guidelines (totalling up to 27 steps). More so, those who have enjoyed the service can rate the artist out of five stars and share their experience. All of that can be viewed on the app, making it easy for first-timers to decide. Founder Douglas Gan hopes that this social element (very Airbnb-like) will make the Vanitee experience to be one of discovery and fun. Singapore agrees. The mobile app has already signed services at over 200 locations island-wide, clocking 70 bookings and S$3,000 transactions per hour.
Seeing that the artists and their services are on a one-time off, there is no need to sign up for a package or what not. This free and easy arrangement, not to mention house calls, will be ideal for the many busy individuals in Singapore.
