UNIQLO Singapore donates S$175,000 worth of LifeWear to Migrant Workers

UNIQLO’s global initiative, “The Heart of LifeWear,” aims to support those in need by donating 1 million new LifeWear items to vulnerable communities, including refugees, children, and essential workers. In Singapore, UNIQLO has contributed 10,000 new LifeWear pieces, such as AIRism and HEATTECH, to migrant workers. The breathable, lightweight AIRism apparel is ideal for Singapore’s warm climate, offering comfort for both work and leisure. Meanwhile, HEATTECH thermal wear can be sent home to family members living in colder regions like India and China, providing them with much-needed warmth.

“Through The Heart of LifeWear, UNIQLO uplifts our local migrant worker community, which we have supported during the COVID-19 pandemic. As they make Singapore their home away from home during their time here, we want to ensure that they have access to functional clothes that can make them feel a little more comfortable through their day-to-day work. It is a modest way that we and our customers show gratitude for their contribution to Singapore’s progress”

Hwee Lee, Senior Director of Sustainability, UNIQLO Singapore

UNIQLO is extending its support to essential workers in Singapore through a collaboration with HealthServe, a non-profit organisation with over 18 years of experience in offering healthcare and social support to migrant workers. Previously, UNIQLO donated nearly 5,000 new LifeWear clothing items to migrant workers placed in quarantine facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Migrant workers who seek jobs in Singapore are here on their own despite language barriers and cultural differences. They work tirelessly to contribute to our nation-building and development, and we applaud UNIQLO for recognising the migrant worker community with high-quality and functional clothing.”
