March is ordinarily reserved for mad hatters… but I have had a dynamite month. TNT to be precise. Ted Baker, Thomas Sabo. Two of the top brand names you’ll find on millennials, and also Kate Middleton and Amal Clooney. Yes, I was right chuffed to see Amal, Kate, and moi, share the same good taste in fashion.
TED BAKER
Ted Baker, one of London’s fashion arbiters, previewed its Spring/Summer ‘18 collection in its Paragon store (#02) curated by sleb stylist Keith Png. The afternoon event was close to taking tea in an English garden. Spring colours, summer blooms, white lace, sky blue stripes, fuchsia flowers for men, soft bows and cuff details for women. To think 30 years ago Ted Baker shirted men in Glasgow, hoots mon (yesss! in Scotland) and now dress – even women – in statement midis. And bags, tops, footwear. So if it’s the spotlight you’re after, go and see your local Baker (Paragon, Ngee Ann City, ION). Prices are friendly enough.
THOMAS SABO
A charmer, Thomas Sabo is, and his secret? Small is big. His stable of international designers (Germany of course) craft unique eye-catchers in sterling silver and hand-cut stones that practically pop from business suits and cocktail dresses. The company (1984) creed is to inspire all your beautiful and important moments in life by its jewellery. Its newest collection speaks to the Rebel At Heart, the Vintage Rebel, the Generation Charm Club, and aren’t we all a bit of just that? Also for our part of the world, the tropics, a series of Go Wild In The Jungle pieces so gorgeous you want to bite them. Be a legit Sabo king and queen, from their outlets in Raffles City and Takashimaya.
