3 April 2012, Singapore – Unless one is Heidi Klum riding a horse a la Lady Godiva showing off her Victoria’s Secret body, and two-million-dollar-insured legs, in very little except for a bling-bling see-through catsuit, then turn to RAOUL’s equestrian-inspired Pre-Fall looks.
Try on Paperbag pants in donkey suede which has a high cinched waist and a whisper of jodhpur silhouette as seen on the wide leg cut. One of the key characteristics of a jockey’s show shirt is the banded collar which can be found sitting on the base of the collar in long-sleeved panelled blouses, and sleeveless saddle tops and saddle dresses.
Also dubbed as the Jazz Age and when flappers were fashion icons, the “roaring twenties” saw cropped hairstyles and dropped hemlines at mid-calf. Women won the right to vote in America, fought for their independence and rebelled against the traditional Stepford-wife role to embrace the new sociable and energetic lady with an effervescent personality.
RAOUL updates the flat neckline with an added belt and buckle detail in a contrasting colour to the season’s bold shades of stunning red, creamy vanilla and traditional black. Accentuating the sexy female neck and softening the face is the hi-neck tied blouse which extends to the waist, and the scarf blouse which wraps the neck into a luxurious bow or tied in a slip knot for a twenties’ glamour look.
Pleats on the Breezy dress and below-the-knee skirts are reminiscent of the 1920’s when women broke out of the conservative mould and claimed their independence in fashion. Pleats allow ease in movement, hence fitting in very well with the active women’s lifestyle.
Gracing evening cocktails and intimate dinners are Tara Maxi and Apron dresses as well as gowns which are loose-fitting, sometimes locked in at the waist with a double-buckle equestrian belt and paired with the Carolyn clutch.
What is most eye-catching is the Shalom Mini Saddle bag in fiery passion red. The mini stirrup acts as a fastener and a playful detail to the leather satchel.
