2 November 2012, Singapore – China Haute Couturier Guo Pei was in Singapore last month for the inaugural Digital Fashion Week in Singapore.  Guo Pei is one of the first generation of Chinese fashion designers who created China Haute  Couture 15 years back.  She became the first and only China Haute Couturier in the world.  She devoted 26 years in design and has been honoured by common Chinese as the ‘national treasure’ for persisting on Chinese traditional culture in her designs.

Her accolades include “China Top Ten Fashion Designer” in 1995, “China Top Five Best Fashion Designers” in 1996 and in 1997, Australian director Sally Ingleton filmed a documentary “Mao’s New Suit” based on the experiences of Guo Pei.    It was in the same year in 1997 that Guo Pei established her own company Rose Studio.  In 2007, Guo Pei was awarded the “Award of Famous Chinese Female Who Leads to New Lifestyle” by China Women Organisation.  In 2011, American Fast Company named Guo Pei one of “The 100 Most Creative People In Business”.

Guo Pei’s designs were also featured during the medal ceremony at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

She presented over 20 pieces from her ‘Ci’ collection with Andrej Pejic closing the show. Enjoy the slideshow below.
