Yesterday was the Singapore launch of the commemorative 20th anniversary limited edition G-SHOCK MR-G, MRG-G1000HT. In collaboration with a third-generation master artisan, Bihou Asano, the new MRG-G1000HT employs the theme of tsuiki, a metalworking technique by which a sheet of metal is hammered out thinly into a three-dimensional shape. A limited run of 300 watches will be sold worldwide. 25 pieces were brought into Singapore and priced at S$8,888. But the MRG-G1000HT were all sold out even before reaching the display shelves. Now we wonder why any marketing is required for such a limited run of watches.
Sitting at the top of CASIO’s range of premium G-SHOCK timepieces, the MRG-G1000HT embodies tough watch design and refined elegance. Boldly combining practicality and beauty under the theme of tsuiki in the design of the MRG-G1000HT, CASIO has produced a watch with a stately appearance and a beautifully pounded finish achieved through meticulous craftsmanship. Asano is a master tsuiki artisan who has created works for the Kyoto State Guest House and participated in restoration work of items designated as Important Cultural Properties in Japan.
Like the MRG-G1000 model it is based on, the new MRG-G1000HT comes with an advanced timekeeping system that receives both Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite signals and radio wave time-calibration signals, and features Dual Dial World Time, which displays times in two cities simultaneously.
Offering the ultimate in tough watch design, the MR-G series combines a sense of quality evoked by finely finished titanium with the distinctively solid feel of G-SHOCK, which conveys its shock-resistant performance, making it a popular choice among watch connoisseurs who value quality timepieces.
