11 June 2012, Singapore – We check out the latest eyewear and sunglasses recently launched as well as classics including the exclusive 40Y special edition for Porsche Design’s 40 year anniversary. Porsche celebrated its 40th anniversary recently with an international tour showcasing its selected eyewear. Singapore was the first and only stopover in South East Asia and the event has travelled to Italy, Korea as well as Hong Kong.
Take a look at the latest models that make their debut here in Singapore from a new entrant into the eye wear business – Crocs and Angry Birds for the young at heart.
PORSCHE DESIGN – CELEBRATING 40 YEARS
The P’9478 model, The Heritage, from Porsche Design’s line of sunglasses was first designed by Professor F.A. Porsche in the late 70s. 6 million pieces have been sold since launch. This model was relaunched in 2008 and made of high-tech material Beta-Titanium. Worn by Jennfier Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Boris Becker, David Beckham and Brad Pitt, this classic retails from S$700 here in Singapore. A limited 10,000 pieces are available.
The P’8480, Heritage Sunglasses is an exact reproduction of the first Porsche Design foldable eyewear “Folding” from 1978. This reproduction has the same design as it was in the 1980 but the material is from the 21st century – Beta-Titanium and Polycarbonate. It even comes in a reproduction of the original case from 1978 which is made of real leather. This piece retails from S$700.
The cool P’8494, Flowing Titanium Sunglasses, has existed since 2010 has no screws or soldering. This is inspired by the shape of Porsche cars has an elegant yet sporty look. It is made of beta titanium material for maximum lightness and flexibility. This piece retails from S$750 at Porsche Design outlets and optical shops.
CROCS EYEWEAR
Who would have thought the makers of the the popular Crocs shoes and sandals would introduce their own line of sunglasses? Introducing fifty pairs of brightly coloured sunglasses that come with silicon rubber templates, you can expect the same lightweight, comfortable and tough qualities similar to the footwear. Singapore has been chosen to offer these new sunglasses in Asia.
These eyewear range from S$115 to S$125 and are available from Crocs stores as well as optical stores.
ANGRY BIRDS
Another new entrant to the optical scene, the Angry Birds eyewear collection is ready to take flight this season. This series of Angry Birds eyewear makes its debut in Singapore for the young and young-at-heart with a playful image. Fans of the game of birds and pigs can now make their favourite game part of their fashion accessory.
There are five models in the adult range and two models for kids. The price range of the eyeware are from S$70 and above.
