The 2023 Grammy-nominated British vocal ensemble VOCES8 will return to Singapore for a day of concerts and educational sessions on 4 June 2024, presented by Voices of Singapore. After their 2018 visit, VOCES8 will perform at CHIJMES Hall, showcasing their diverse repertoire over the years.
VOCES8 will perform two concerts at CHIJMES Hall, from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm. These concerts will feature a selection of their most popular pieces, spanning from classical to contemporary music. The VOS Children’s Choir and VOS Youth Choir will also perform at the concerts, with the latter marking their debut. Â
VOCES8 is known for their versatility and musical excellence. Since their inception in 2005, they have performed at venues such as Wigmore Hall, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Berlin Philharmonie, and the Sydney Opera House. They tour globally, performing over 100 concerts annually across Europe, the USA, Australia, and Asia. VOCES8 has collaborated with musicians like Paul Simon, Jacob Collier, Eric Whitacre, and Christopher Tin. Their recordings, including the Grammy-nominated “The Lost Birds,” are widely acclaimed.Â
Ensemble Technique Workshop | From 10:30am to 12:00pm at CHIJMES Hall, co-founders Paul and Barnaby Smith will lead a session on the VOCES8 Method, including warm-ups and ensemble techniques. |
Masterclasses | From 1:30pm to 3:00pm, masterclasses will be held at various locations: CHIJMES Hall, VOS Capitol Studios, VOS Sky Studio, Band Academy Singapore, and CYL Music Studio. These sessions offer guidance from VOCES8 members to improve choir performances. Observers are welcome. |
