Sake Matsuri returns after a two-year break because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The one-day event on 25 June 2022 will be held at the UE Square, Skylight Atrium, an outdoor sheltered space to raise awareness and appreciation of craft sake in Singapore.
The format remains largely the same as the past 3 Sake Matsuri events. A single ticket grants access to the festival grounds. Various merchant kiosks will offer a selection of sakes for tastings and purchases. Over 150 sakes and Japanese spirits from 14 vendors will be available for tasting before you purchase at attractive prices.
The Kurokohaku by Kamogawa Sake Brewery, the world’s oldest kijoshi and most expensive available in Singapore at S$22,000, will be retailing as a festival exclusive.
An izakaya booth will be onsite to dish out snacks such as nori fries and oden, as well as fried tako and shishamo. Tickets are offered in two different three-hour blocks. 11 am to 2 pm or 3 pm to 6 pm to better manage crowds.
A sundown sake party will take place from 6 pm onwards. This is when the public can join in the fun and roam the entire festival grounds without tickets. The live DJ set comes on as sake vendors stop pouring.
A festival cocktail booth by Beam Suntory will continue the drinks for the night. Restaurant Eclopse bar manager Niza and Section D home bartender Dannon Har will be mixing up a menu of cocktails that showcase the varied flavours of sakes as it intermingles with Japanese spirits including Roku Gin and Haku Vodka. Sake flights by sakechan will also be on the menu while a selection of sake vendors will continue offering sakes by the bottle.
