Desaru Coasts presents Ombak Festival, The Ultimate Weekend of internationally renowned acts and over 50 events across music and performances, food & beverages, visual arts and craft and Ombak Kids for the younger ones from 13 to 15 September 2024.
16 hours of performances will be held at the Ombak Main Stage programming, including Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Grace Jones, Macy Gray, The Cardigans. Regional names include Alena Murang, Thee Marloes, and Aisyah Azia.
Guests can experience an explosion of Malaysian and international food and drinks by some of the region’s top chefs and mixologists with a series of culinary delights throughout the destination, including Ember Beach Club Brunch by Chef Andrew Walsh, Kitchen Takeover by Carbon KL, Latin Street Flavours by Feliz, and Flavours of Borneo by Reka:bar, V r, and Chocha Foodstore.
An Exploration of Nusantara Cuisine with Khir Johari & Chef Adu delivers an immersive culinary experience that intersects with culture and heritage. This fireside chat and lunch features Chef Adu Amran of ADU Sugar and Khir Johari, author of the award-winning book The Food of the Singapore Malays: Gastronomic Travels Through the Archipelago. Chef Adu will also be creating a culinary smorgasbord representing the best of Johor street food in Streets & Beats. Turmeric at Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas will host An Exploration of Nusantara Cuisine and Streets & Beats.
All Q’ued Up by Quantic, One&Only Desaru Coast will also present Ember Beach Club Brunch by Chef Andrew Walsh, an elevated barbecue experience infused with Asian flavours, to the Southeast Asian sounds of DJs Maft Sai and Mellow Goeslaw.
Food Fiction by REXKL will serve up F&B stars including Licky Chan, Jojo’s by Joloko, Stellar, Fafaba, KAI, Calle Taco, The REX Bar, Brotani, and Kantin. Also at Festival Village are fashion innovators Kapten Batik, who will showcase their batik collection, along with special Ombak Festival merchandise; as well as Collection Curated by Dia Guild, a platform that spotlights unique fashion from Southeast Asian brands.
Watch out for the mesmerising fluid metal sculptures of Abdul Multhalib Musa – one of Malaysia’s young leading contemporary sculptors – to the participatory Shore Debris Table installation by artist and photographer Ernest Goh of Ayer Ayer.
Ombak Festival will also feature two marketplaces – a Southeast Asian fashion and lifestyle collection curated by Dia Guild, and local artisanal designs at Lokal Market – with offerings that are environmentally and socially conscious and accessible to all.
The fun extends to even the youngest of guests through Ombak Kids and its programme of family-friendly activities. From the Silent Disco Kids edition to Mereka Garden Games; from Junglewalla eco-adventures and Flying Kites to Sailing Jongs – there will be a variety of interactive workshops, thrilling games, and engaging entertainment for the young and the young at heart to revel in.

Ombak Festival launched Festival Day Passes, with a 1-Day Pass priced at RM550+ and a 2-Day Pass priced at RM990+. All Festival Day Passes include access to Ombak Main Stage and retail and F&B areas within the Festival Village on 14 September and/or 15 September 2024.

Guests travelling from Singapore can take the direct ferry service between Singapore’s Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal from 13 to 16 September 2024. Ferry service frequency will be increased over the weekend from Singapore’s Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal. Tickets can be purchased from BatamFast.
