The TENG Company will be hosting an exciting celebration of our local musicians and creatives with a concert titled, The Singaporean Composers Series.
Gather your family, friends and loved ones for an evening to celebrate The TENG Company’s 20th anniversary and support local music with a series of 10 new commissions created in collaboration with 20 local creatives to celebrate the Singapore sound and the Singaporean arts company’s last two decades of creating music for good. The Singaporean Composers Series is a homecoming for our local composers, producers, musicians and filmmakers including Cultural Medallion recipient Dr Kelly Tang, 13-year old musical genius Nathanael Koh, and veteran music producer George Leong and more.
The concert will also mark the opening of the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) Cultural Extravaganza 2024 where audiences can look forward to a memorable musical experience showcasing Singapore’s unique diversity, and a rich presentation of Singaporean artistry and talent.
The TENG Company 20th Anniversary Gala Night will be held on 24 May, where proceeds from this fundraising concert will ensure that TENG’s programmes and operations can continue to run and grow. The gala will feature 10 new commissions created in collaboration with 20 local creatives from different ethnic backgrounds, including composers, producers, musicians and filmmakers, who embody the country’s cross-cultural essence, artistic heritage and burgeoning creativity. The works will celebrate the Singapore sound by following the Eastern storytelling framework of 起 (Beginning), 承 (Exposition), 转 (Re-direction), and 合 (Harmony).
Other TENG programmes to look out for this year include five community concerts, two educational instrumental concerts that spotlight the contemporary tones of the Guzheng and Erhu respectively, as well as an unprecedented collaboration with The Private Museum to present The Eight Graces, a multidisciplinary showcase for enthusiasts of Chinese art and culture.
Tickets for The Singaporean Composer Series are available via Ticketmaster and will be held at the Auditorium of Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, Level 9.
