Experience The Monkey King Chinese Opera’s Dazzling Stunts at Esplanade Theatres in November

Embark on an extraordinary adventure with The Monkey King, a spectacular production co-produced by Trend Education Foundation and National Taiwan College of Performing Arts. The Chinese opera will showcase remarkable kung-fu stunts by skilled actors in Singapore on 10 and 11 November 2023 at Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.

The opera, based on the early chapters of the classic Chinese novel “Journey to the West,” tells an engaging story of Sun Wukong’s daring and playful adventures in the Heavenly Court. It’s a mesmerising experience where Sun Wukong showcases his invincibility through his enchanted staff, the Ruyi Jingu Bang, and his incredible ability to leap vast distances using his Cloud Somersault. This thrilling and memorable performance transcends generational boundaries, captivating audiences with a magical fusion of culture, theater, and uproarious humour.

The role of Sun Wu Kong in “The Monkey King” is played by three martial arts actors – CHU Lu-Hao, HSU Ting-Fang, and CHIN Lang.
