The European Union (EU)’s ‘More than Food, Great Stories to Share’ campaign will be in Singapore with an interactive ‘EU Dairy and Fruits & Vegetables Round Table: Helping Singaporeans explore Europe with every bite.’ This will be an online seminar on Thursday, 21 April 2022 from 3.30 – 5.30 pm.
This special round table is for food professionals and media and features guest speakers sharing their knowledge and experience of working with a diverse range of EU dairy, fruits and vegetable products.
Taking a deep dive into traditional production methods and origin stories, including PDO and PGI labels, participants will get to experience first-hand what makes EU dairy, fruits and vegetables stand out for customers in Singapore when it comes to quality, safety authenticity and sustainability.
Singapore is the EU’s largest trading partner in the Southeast Asian region, with a total bilateral trade in goods and services of over €90 billion in 2020. EU agri-fo od exports to Singapore represented 7.2% of total merchandise exports and amounted to almost €2 billion in 2021. Singaporean consumers are becoming more familiar with European dairy, fruits and vegetable products since the entry into force of the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement in November 2019 and are now paying closer attention to where their food comes from.
EU representative Mr. Jean-Pierre De Meerleer Sánchez will join Mr. Antoine Zaruba, founder of gourmet cheese store ‘The Cheese House’ who will share his experience of turning a passion for European cheese into a business. Mr. Jean-Philippe Joye, Retail and Bistro Operations Manager at Culina Pte Ltd will give insights into the many benefits of adding EU fruits and vegetables to your portfolio for customers in Singapore.
Popular local Chef Teo Yeow Siang of Three Embers restaurant Singapore will demonstrate the various ways in which you can use dairy, fruits and vegetable products from the EU, by whipping up delicious creations with these ingredients. Chef Teo’s illustrious culinary experience includes being Team Captain at the 2016 Culinary Olympics in Germany, which earned Singapore two gold medals.
Under its ‘More than Food’ campaign, the EU is leading the way in promoting outstanding European agricultural products to Singaporean businesses and consumers.
