The Music Run has been turning up the volume of many running enthusiasts’ hearts all over Asia, from our neighbour Kuala Lumpur to Yangon, Myanmar. This year, it returns triumphantly to take over the globe, with 13 new countries in mind (including even, Europe), with our very own Singapore as its international starting point!
The Music Run is a breath of fresh air to the marathon scene, by making it an interactive and music pumping experience all throughout the 5KM route. It promises an immersive experience unlike any other, as it gets your heartbeat thumping to your favourite tunes along the coast of Sentosa.
Each 1KM section will be jam-packed full of activities unique to the sponsors and music genres; totalling up to five with AIA taking over Rock and Dance, Head&Shoulder with Pop, Coca-Cola with Retro and Gilette with Hip-Hop.
While all of them have kept amazingly mum about what they have got installed for the Music Runners, they could barely hold back their excitement and promises to bring their own brand of flavour to each zone. Starting from the beginning, you will find the pioneer of beatboxing in Singapore and defending champion of the International Grand Beatbox Battle, Dharni, collaborating with K-Leah to jumpstart the Music Runners for the fun-packed 5KM ahead.
Continuing on, Head&Shoulders promises to refresh our humidity-worn bodies with some soap and bubbles (foam party, maybe?), while Gilette aims to bring us onto the blinged up set of a Barbershop! As the run comes to an end, with the golden dusk of Sentosa in the background, AIA even has plans for something a little exciting “in the dark”.
As Ben Pember, Executive Director of Exceed Sports and Entertainment responsible for bringing The Music Run onto our sunny island, says: “Music and running has always gone hand in hand in a way that allows fitness buffs and casual runners alike to enjoy running to the rhythm of the beat.” To top that, their exclusive partnership with Spotify brings upon our very own flavour to the songs played through the 100 over quality speakers found every step of the way.
Taking the wealth of knowledge Spotify has as a music service, they have joined forces to come up with playlists tuned to our local preferences. What’s more, you get to play DJ through the Music Run website! Every Music Runner has the power to control what’s going to be played on that day – by voting up your favourite music track from each genre. The more hits the track gets, the higher its chances for an appearance!
Standard tickets are priced at S$50, and Rock Stars at S$75, and will come with runner packs filled to the brim with exclusive goodies essential for every Music Runner. The registration ends on the 31st March 2015, so get your running shoes ready and get registered for the biggest “dance” party this year!
The Music Run by AIA will commence on the 11th April 2015, with registrations ending on the 31st March 2015. For more details and voting on Spotify, please check their website.
