The world premiere of The LKY Musical by Metropolitan Productions will take place on 21 July 2015. The musical pays tribute to Singapore’s first Prime Minister, the late Mr. Lee Kuan Yew and follows his life from early days of Raffles College to the founding of independent Singapore. The story is based on Singaporean writer Meira Chand.
Adrian Pang takes the lead role of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew while Sharon Au takes on the role of Mrs. Lee Kuan Yew. Other cast of the musical include Sebastian Tan who plays the role of Koh Teong Koo who represents the everyman and Benjamin Chow takes on the role of Lim Chin Song.
The music in this musical is by Singapore’s iconic musician and composer, Dick Lee. The musical is directed by London director Steven Dexter (Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress) with lyrics by Olivier Award-winning lyricist Stephen Clark (Martin Guerre) and script by Tony Petito (A Twist of Fate).
The LKY Musical gets its strategic guidance from an advisory committee which includes corporate leaders, Mr. Poh Choon Ann, Chairman and CEO of PTC Logistics, Dr Liu Thai Ker, Senior Director of RSP Architects Planners and Engineers, and Dr. Andy Adhiwana, Executive Director of Auric Pacific Group Limited.
The 2 hour 30 minute musical will be staged at the MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands and will continue through the Jubilee celebrations over the National Day weekend. Tickets priced from S$58 to S$150 go on sale today through SISTIC outlets.
