Denver alternative-rock band The Fray headlined the Guinness Arthur’s Day 2013 which was held in a specially constructed pint-shaped concert arena at The Promontory@Marina Bay on 27 September 2013. Singapore is among 55 countries around the world to celebrate the fifth Arthur’s Day. Tickets to the invite-only concert were given out to fans who complete three ‘Acts of Boldness’ challenges around Singapore in August.
The night celebrations kicked off around 8pm with local band Ellipsis – winners of the ‘Play on the Day’ competition who performed a series of songs including ‘Padawan’ and ‘The Glass Box’. The evidently talented band was chosen by The Fray to open the performance. Temperatures soared when The Fray appeared on stage. Lead singer Issac Slade, bassist Joe King, lead guitarist Dave Welsh and drummer Ben Wysocki rocked the stage with their hit songs such as ‘You Found Me’, ‘Over My Head (Cable Car)’, ‘To Save A Life’ as well as their new songs ‘Hold My Hand’ and ‘Wherever This Goes’. The crowd sang their hearts out to the tunes throughout the 120 minutes performance and were left wanting more. The Fray re-appeared for an encore performance of ‘Never say never’ to the massive support of the party-ready crowd. The band raised their Guinness glasses at one point to toast to the crowd, giving fans all the reasons they need to celebrate the night out.
