7 March 2012, Singapore – Head down to One on the Bund this Sunday, 11 March to commemorate the one year anniversary of the fated Tōhoku earthquake and Tsunami.

‘Takadashi’ Day is organized by Cool Japan and is meant to show Singaporeans the act of love and public service through the giving of home-cooked food to people in need. This food service is a social and cultural experience for anyone who wishes to understand how it is like to queue up for food relief during disasters or crisis period.

Mandarin Orchard will serve its popular Mandarin Chicken Rice from Chatterbox.

Master Chef Kageshisa Imada of Kyubei – a One Michelin- Starred restaurant in Tokyo and Mr Ryuta Tomonaga, a special guest chef from the Tohoku area will also be participating in ‘Takidashi’ Day.

Mandarin Orchard Singapore, One on the Bund and Tea Bone Zen Mind will be presenting a series of food items representing ‘Takidashi’ food service, to commemorate and thank Singaporeans who have supported Japan during their time of crisis last year.

Photography exhibition

New York based celebrity photographer Junichi Takahashi and international journalist Mathias Heng (Singaporean) depicts Japanese citizens in their post disaster progress, learning to love their family and friends at a deeper level and also develop a stronger sense of purpose in life; all these in a series of compelling photography.

Art therapy

Theme park mural artist, Sato Takeshi, has used the sale of his works to help the needy and helped calm many restless children who were indoor-bound during the disaster by holding workshops to encourage and boost their morale. Mr Takeshi will be hosting a few workshops on-location.

Walt Disney World candy artist, Candy Miyuki will also be sharing some of her beautiful candy works which she used to cheer citizens with in the Tohoku area.
