Natasha Bedingfield was in Kuala Lumpur last Friday performing at an exclusively intimate showcase for Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) members. Starwood Preferred Guest is a loyalty programme for the Starwood Hotels and Resorts group. SPG members can also use points and cash when booking their stays, transfer to airline miles as well as for airline miles or merchandise at retailers such as Amazon.com, Nordstrom and Starbucks.
Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide has partnered Live Nation Entertainment for its On Tour With SPG: Hear The Music, See The World music series. These events are held in Starwood’s nine hotel brands featuring customised components of the brand’s persona and style at the show. Earlier this year, Mayer Hawthorne performed in Element Vaughan Southwest, Toronto; Janelle Monae at The St. Regis New York and recently on 28 July, Jason Mraz performed at The Westin Grand Munich.
The Malaysian leg of the series is the fourth event of the nine-part series and was held at Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral. This is the third consecutive year of this global music series. The event in Kuala Lumpur was originally supposed to showcase Leona Lewis where SPG members could bid for access to the showcase starting from 5,000 points.
The highest bid for this was 12,000 points for access for two to the concert, preconcert meet and greet and preconcert cocktail reception. 12 members submitted their bids. Unfortunately Leona Lewis could not make it for the performance and luckily Natasha Bedingfield could make it in quite short notice for the concert.
Natasha Bedingfield sang familiar tunes and towards the end of her concert, audience stood up and joined her as they danced to her tunes and take photos with their smartphones to capture memories from this priceless moment. Before the concert, guests were treated to a preconcert cocktail where alcohol and canapes were served. We enjoyed the show as we sipped our glasses of champagne before we got into the groove to dance and sing along.
Hebe Tien from Taiwanese Mandopop girl group S.H.E. will be performing in W Guangzhou later this year for the Chinese audience. SPG members could redeem 5,000 SPG points for a pair of tickets to the Hebe concert and the pre-concert cocktail reception on 18 October 2014. Only 50 of such packages were available for redemption.
British recording artist Katie Melua will be performing songs from her latest album Ketevan at the Le Meridien Dubai on 15 November 2014. 150 packages offering a pair of concert tickets and preconcert cocktail reception were available for redemption at 5,000 SPG Points.
Jewel will be performing at The US Grant in San Diego on 25 September and Capital Cities will perform at the Sheraton Buenos Aieres Hotel and Convention Centre in Argentina on 4 December this year.
