30 January 2013, Singapore – From now till the end February, its Spring Celebration at Gardens By The Bay with floral displays made of some 8,000 colourful blooms to usher in the Lunar New Year at the Flower Dome cool conservatory. Visitors will also be welcomed by an extensive display of giant lanterns spanning about half a kilometre from the Visitor Centre to the Flower Dome.
Taking advantage of the cool climate in the Flower Dome, the floral display will be featuring peonies, camellias, cherry blossoms, chrysanthemums, orchids, dahlias, azaleas, and more than 8 varieties of kumquat plants such as the Giant Golden Citrus and Buddha’s Hand Citrus, complimented by oriental pavilions nestled amidst the festive flora. Bonsai lovers will get to a chance to appreciate a selection of penjing (bonsai) which are up to 200 years old.

Complementing the horticultural showcase will be a series of exciting programmes including multi-disciplinary performances like Chinese opera, music and dance infused with martial arts; craft activities like creating Lunar New Year origami ornaments and paper lanterns; guided tours highlighting auspicious plants; and an exhibition on the origins and customs of the Lunar New Year.
