This year, Sentosa Spooktacular has truly out done Universal Studios Singapore’s Halloween Horror Nights in terms of scariness and excitement at the haunted house trails. With fewer haunted houses but much longer trails. visitors have time to build up the suspense and is also more spaced out between groups of visitors for more eerie & immersive experience.
The props and set up in the haunted houses are more detailed and well thought through than previous years’ Spooktacular. They no longer give you that “school project” feel but instead a full fledge haunted house trail comparable to any theme parks out there. It is definitely worth your time to check out Sentosa Spooktacular if you only have budget to attend one Halloween fright fest event in Singapore.
***Try to wear clothes that you are prepared to throw away or all BLACK. As we were going though the trails, we got a lot of stains from paint on the props while walking through the narrow walk ways. My new bag got all these red paint that are impossible to remove.
And yet again SUPERADRIANME.com has gathered a team of Fear Explorers to review this annual Halloween event, providing you with reviews based on different fear benchmarks by four individuals – The Brave, The Timid, The Cam Whore and The Babe.
The Brave
Sentosa Spooktacular was spooky and eerie. Once you step into Fort Siloso, you feel like you have been transported into a scene of a horror movie. The use of existing buildings plus the natural surrounding makes it scarily realistic. The setup in the haunted houses were spectacular. If you are not the sort who is easily frightened, at least you get to appreciate the effort, creativity and craftsmanship of the set up.
The Timid
It was time to go for a toilet break before our second trail. It was a long walk to the toilet and I had to pass through a whole lot of ghosts. The entire Fort Siloso was practically transformed into a scare zone. We spotted various eerie “twin ghosts” (from Chinese twins, Angmoh twins, schoolboy twins to conjoined twins) alongside many other ghosts who persistently tried to scare the hell out of all the visitors. When I finally reached the toilet area, there was a small playground where a girl on a swing that kept on staring at me from the dark corners. I had to convince myself that the portable toilets were not part of the props and there will not be “someone” standing in the cubic to greet me when I open the door. That’s how spooky and scary Sentosa Spooktacular is for me.
The Cam Whore
This year’s Sentosa Spooktacular is indeed spectacular. For the first time I got trigger happy and gotten many wonderful shots from the haunted trails. I hardly get scared by the scare actors, but this year I got a couple of spooks as I was too concentrated at admiring the wonderful setup that I let my guard down. ALONE and Court Down are the two trails that were so beautiful that I wish I can go for a couple more rounds to perfect my shoots. I wished that there could be more trails as three was not enough for me. But it was a job well down for Sentosa this year. TWO THUMBS UP!
The Babe
Spooky Fun. My favourite haunted house trail is ALONE. The setup is great, lots of blood and gore, like those you would find in a real movie set. Sometimes I could not tell the real flesh & blood scare actor from the props until they suddenly came alive. I like that at the start we have to go through the pipes and tunnels that were all dark and narrow, making it an immersive experience for all. But good luck to anyone who is claustrophobic.
