REVIEW: OneRepublic Native Tour Concert In Singapore

American rock band, OneRepublic raised the roof at the Hard Rock Hotel Coliseum with OneRepublic Native Tour concert at Sentosa Tuesday night despite their late arrival. All was forgiven when the Grammy-nominated band appeared on stage past 8.40pm, much to the delight of the screaming sold-out crowd of over 4000 concert-goers.

Silhouetted behind a large white sheet, Ryan Tedder (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Zach Filkins (guitar, backing vocals), Drew Brown (guitar), Brent Kutzle (bass, cello) and Eddie Fisher (drums) opened the concert with the backdrop of their shadows cast on the white screen, lending a cinematic feel.

In the highly-anticipated unveiling of the band, the white screen hanging over the stage gave way to the stars of the night who treated the crowd to a mesmerising performance of the hit song ‘Secrets’.

The band just released their third album Native on 26 March this year. Playing hits such as ‘What You Wanted’, ‘Counting Stars’, ‘Stop and Stare’ , ‘Burning Bridges’, ‘Something I Need’ from their latest Album as well as those from their second album, Waking Up, such as their successful single, ‘All The Right Moves’, OneRepublic put up a stunning performance of both rock and acoustic songs despite the limited pyrotechnics on show.

The venue provided an initial setting which certainly lit up the party atmosphere. Clad in a simple dark top and pants, lead singer, Ryan, engaged the crowd and praised Singapore for being “one of the most futuristic countries he had ever seen”. With that charm and talent, OneRepublic seems set to scale even greater heights.

Song list:

Don’t look down
Light it up
Secrets
All the right moves
What you wanted
Stop and stare
Counting stars
Apologize
Burning bridges
Preacher
Gold digger
Can’t stop
Marching on
I lived
Good life
Encore: feel again if I lose myself
