21 September 2010, Singapore – A collection of 50 selected official gifts received by the 6 Presidents of Singapore from 1962 to 2009 will be on display at the National Museum of Singapore from 22 September till 9 January 2011. These gifts play an important role in establishing and enhancing good relations, in addition to the cultural and social heritage of the country presenting them. This is the first time, these gifts are displayed outside of the Istana. Visitors can expect to see decorative vases, ceremonial daggers, vividly painted bowls, exquisitely crafted gold and silverware in both traditional and contemporary styles.
Today, I had the chance to preview these gifts together with other members of the media at the second floor of the museum. Some of the gifts were indeed amazing.
