Fashion For All Show on 1 June 2024
The festival now features “Fashion For All,” an inclusive fashion event where 20 designers, industry veterans and emerging labels—will present their collections of fashion and accessories designed for all gender identities, body types, ages, and abilities. This addition complements Pink Fest’s three signature events: the Inclusive Careers Fair, Pasar Pink, and Pink Screen. Presented by Pink Fest, and in partnership with Singapore Fashion Council @ Design Orchard, the month-long retail event showcases a vibrant tapestry of fashion and accessories by Singapore designers and emerging talents at Design Orchard.
The Fashion For All show on 1 June 2024 will feature both professional models and those selected from the open casting held on May 1st for its show on June 1st, 2024. Nearly 70 aspiring models from diverse backgrounds—including bankers, lecturers, nano engineers, homemakers, and students aged 9 to 58—participated in the Open Casting Call at Design Orchard on May 1st, 2024, between 11am and 3pm. The casting panel comprised show producers Daniel Boey and Brandon Barker, alongside Lily Hamid from the Singapore Fashion Council, who also manages marketing at Design Orchard.
Inclusive Careers Fair at WeWork 21 Collyer Quan on 22 June
This year’s Inclusive Careers Fair returns to WeWork 21 Collyer Quay on 22 June 2024. Over 30 companies, including Dyson, Expedia, Nomura, Standard Chartered, Wells Fargo, WeWork, Canon, Google, Oracle, PropertyGuru, PublicisGroupe, among others, have confirmed their participation in Inclusive Careers Fair 2024.
Inclusive Careers Fair’s mission is to facilitate meaningful connections between employers and diverse talent, including LGBTQ+, differently-abled, neurodivergent individuals, racial/ethnic minorities, women and other underrepresented groups in Singapore. You can expect thought-provoking panels, useful workshops, employer exhibitor booths, mentoring opportuniites and a professional photography studio.
Pasar Pink and Sunday Social at Museum of Ice Cream on 9 June
Pasar Pink is co-organised with Sunday Social. Held at Museum of Ice Cream at 11am to 6pm on 9 June 2024, you can expect F&B and lifestyle brand as well as a Proud Pet Parade where proud pawrents can participate in a pet/owner look alike contest with their furkids. Stand to win attractive prizes.
Pink Screen, The Projector’s annual LGBTQIA+ film festival, returns 31 May to 29 June
The Projector will screen “Bugis Street (1995)” (R21 rating), the opening film for Pink Screen, its annual LGBTQIA+ film fesitval happening 31 May to 29 June 2024. The Venice Film Festival Classic Award nominee defies categorisation and weaves a narrative set against the dynamic backdrop of a bygone Singaporean era where chambermaid Lian, a fresh-faced 16-year-old who takes a job at a hotel inhabited by transgender sex workers during the Vietnam War and sicovers love, life and community in a street full of divine decadence and mascara virtue. Other Pink Screen highlights include Ethan Coen’s road comedy DRIVE AWAY DOLLS (2024), romantic comedy LOVE IS STRANGE (2014), award-winning Korean drama PEAFOWL (2022). There will also be a DRIVE AWAY DOLLS fundraiser for community-based LGBTQIA+ organsation Oogachaga.
Wild Rice Presents “trans:mission.” written by Alfian Saat
Singapore’s premiere home-grown theatre powerhouse Wild Rice, will be presenting “trans:mission.” written by Alfian Saat from 12 to 16 June 2024. This groundbreaking production was workshopped and will be performed entirely by trans individuals. Exploring themes of ‘transphobia,’ ‘dysphoria,’ and ‘utopia’ through structured dialogues, this powerful piece amplifies the voices and stories of trans people, in their own authentic words. Sing! Men’s Chorus Celebrates 20 Years of Timeless Harmony
Sing! Men’s Chorus celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The all-male choir was established in 2005, allowing individuals interested in singing to join and introducing another form of choral music to the public. Over the years, the choir has grown to nearly 60 alumni members and an average of over twenty active members each season.
A special launch party will be held at 8pm on 30 May 2024 at Backstage Bar, showcasing the choir’s milestones and offering a live preview of its upcoming anniversary concert in September. Backstage Bar is at 80 Neil Road. Drinks at the bar will be 20% off all night long as a special thank you. SMC is an official Pink Fest partner.
