The new Jem Shopping Mall at Jurong East is suppose to have its opening today, but it will not be ready for the public yet as the landlord has withdrew its readiness for opening. From Jem’s official site, you will see a noticed stating that they are sorry that the mall will not be opening today.
No official details on why the mall is delaying its launched. Stores like The Optique of Tomorrow (T.O.T.), Mark & Spencers, H&M, UNIQLO and many others who have planned for their launch parties this week have to inform all their guests that the opening have been postponed.
UPDATE as at 5pm 11 June 2013
Mr. Chris Brown, Development Director, Jem shared “With the T.O.P. of the building’s retail component received on 31 May, the base building has received all necessary approvals. We are making good progress of processing the final permits required for the tenants to commence trading. Until these are in place, we continue to maintain the difficult position of not opening the mall to the public in order to adhere to regulatory requirements.
We are focusing on getting Jem opened as soon as possible.
We look forward to advising you on the new opening date as soon as we have the information.”
UPDATE as at 6pm 13 June 2013
We’ve been informed Jem will open at 10am on 15 June 2013.
